My passion for food began at a young age, watching and helping my Nan create everything from family roasts, crisps over an open fire, and the most insane birthday cakes (bone cake anyone?!) I love that food can open and feed all of the senses and transport you to a different place or time; the salt and tang of chips at the seaside, the warm and smokey barbeque air on a summer evening, even the waft of burnt toast on a hectic Monday morning.
I began working as a waitress in a small pub when I was 14 and moved on to the kitchen while studying for my BA in Fine Art. I've worked in various venues, including pop-up restaurants, bistros, and private catering for large-scale corporate events and weddings. I studied for my Masters in Sculpture at the Glasgow School of Art, where I continued to explore my interest in food, ritual, and the natural world through the medium of sculpture and oral history. I'm a collector of cookbooks and magazines, and I'm absolutely in love with anything moulded in aspic!
In 2019 I discovered the world of food styling for screen, a career that I wish I had explored when I was younger but didn't realise was accessible to someone like myself. I started working as an assistant for a very talented Food Stylist, creating both edible and sculpted food props, and have continued to build contacts and work on a series of films and television shows, with clients including Warner Brothers, Netflix, and the BBC. I have full liability insurance, Level 2 Food Safety Certificate, BA (Hons) Fine Art, MLitt Sculpture, National Film and Television School Art Department Certificate, and Coronavirus Awareness on Production Certificate.
